GAB is now an alternative to Twitter. However! They have a quite interesting message that Distrita website helps to spread about what’s going on at Twitter. If Twitter really changes its censorship and blacklisting rules as described below on 18th of December. It’s really threatening the independent freedom of speech.
Here is the mail that Distrita got from GAB management
We’ve made some incredible progress this month on the product in preparation for Twitter’s strict new enforcement rules that will be going live on December 18th. Twitter will be judging user behavior both on and OFF of their website. Meaning if you visit another website that they don’t like or show “support” for groups they don’t like, you can get banned. This unprecedented level of censorship and blacklisting of groups from the public square is unlike anything in history and will be a huge opportunity for Gab.
In just 30 days we’ve been able to reserve $738,000 in our ICO Test The Waters Campaign. We expect the ICO to go live in Q1 2018. This will be one of the first Regulation A+ ICO’s in history and will once again allow our users to become owners in Gab as we continue to take on the Silicon Valley elite and Big Social. If you want to reserve your investment you can do so now by visiting our testing the waters campaign page. No exchange of money or bitcoin happens yet, this is simply a way to reserve your spot for when the ICO goes live. Our last campaign was oversubscribed by hundreds of thousands of dollars and filled up very quickly, so be sure to reserve early.
Twitter will judge users both on and OFF their website from 18th of Decemeber
Twitter will be judging user behavior both on and OFF of their website. Meaning if you visit another website that they don’t like or show “support” for groups they don’t like, you can get banned. This is totally unacceptable for sure. This destroys the whole concept of Twitter, which have until today been a very free social network community. Now, Twitter seems to change the beat totally. Why is this happening?
The net should always be free and the social networks should never judge or do anything about groups. If groups gets banned, then people will always find ways to open these groups in other places on the net. Meaning that finding criminals or people doing bad stuff online will become even harder. By having an open policy, communities have much easier way of alerting. Freedom of speech on-line should always be free. That was the intention of the Internet creators in 1990. They never saw a net where commercial and political powers could change Internet this much.
We must preserve the open Internet and that’s why we at Distrita choose to bring this letter from GAB. We haven’t been paid or told to write this news item at all but we fully support freedom of speech on-line! We advice Twitter to re-think their new strategy! Keep the Internet alive for all types of discussions.
