
Today it is 25th of March. So then, we can reveal that it is the official Waffle day for Europeans. The day everyone eats waffles. Did you know that Norwegians is one of worlds most eating waffle eaters? While we know about Belgian waffles, this article is related to those waffles that are shaped as hearts. In almost every Norwegian home, people got a waffle machine, which is used many times during a month. There is also traditions at jobs, to get Norwegian waffles on Fridays especially. But today 25th of March, it’s the Europes’s waffle day!
What’s so special about Norwegian waffles?
The Norwegian waffles are formed as hearts. People often eat them with different jams and sour cream, but some even loves to use vanilla ice cream also. The most Norwegian thing is to put brown cheese on top, while in some areas in Norway like in Fredrikstad. They actually sell hot dogs inside a waffle instead of using hot dog bread.

So, if you feel that you should celebrate with Europe on this waffle day, here is recipes for you:
1) Waffles made with Milk
- 2 egg
- 1 dl sugar
- 3 dl milk
- 1 dl water
- 350 g flour
- 1 small spoon baking powder
- 1 small spoon vanilla sugar
- ½ small spoon cardamom
- 125 g melted butter
2) Waffles made without Milk
- 6 dl fraiche cream
- 1 small spoon salt
- 1 small spoon bakepulver
- 200 g flour
- 2 dl water
Try them out. I can guarantee that this official European waffle day will bring joy for the little ones or the whole family itself. Waffles either they are Norwegian types or Belgium types, they deserve to be celebrated.
