Alexander Imich from New York, who, according to Guinness World Records, the world’s oldest man with its 111 years and 124 days, died Sunday.

Interesting info about him:

Alexander escaped from the Nazis and he was a prisoner of war in Russia. Imich was born in Poland on February 3, 1903 but fled the country in 1939, with his wife, after the Germans invaded. He survived several years in a Russian concentration camp and came finally to New York in 1951.

111-year-old said before his death that his good health probably was due to a diet consisting of mostly chicken and fish, in addition to that he also stayed away from alcohol.

Distrita sends big hugs to his family which have kept him alive so long and hope that many positive memories will be kept forever.
