Luxury train Spain: ‘Did you know about the luxury train, The Transcantabrico? During 7 days you can live in one of the trains’ 24 elegant suites and discover a whole lot of what Northern Spain can offer.
El Transcantábrico started to run in 1983 along the same railway lines as the old coal trains of the historic La Robla Railway, which took coal from León to Biscay.
Just one hundred years after the mythical Orient Express was inaugurated, the first tourist train in Spain began to run between León and Santiago de Compostela, making a journey of 8 days and 7 nights through the history of Spain from prehistoric times to the present day.
When you board the train, you will be given a warm welcome by the crew. They are a group of professionals who will accompany you throughout the trip and be entirely at your disposal.
You will also receive a detailed program of each day’s events and the national, international and local newspapers.
At night, after dinner, their luxury coach will take you back to the train and you will be able to spend an animated evening in the onboard pub.

Santiago, the goal for pilgrims, looking like a jewel; The Obradoiro’s square, Platerías, the Cathedral. Lunch in Santiago. In the afternoon you will get by coach to Ferrol, where the train awaits us. Welcome on board and settlement. Once on the train we will get to Vivero. Dinner and night in Vivero.
On its way to Arriondas, the train will reach the heart of Asturias: the National Park of Picos de Europa, the Covadonga Lakes, the Sanctuary of Covadonga, and finally Cangas de Onís. Lunch aboard the train. In the afternoon the train will depart to Llanes a beautiful fishing village on the east coast of Asturias. Dinner and night in Llanes.
The train will cover the distance between Santander and Bilbao, visiting the Guggenheim Modern Arts Museum and the old quarter. Lunch and free time. Then, with the train, you will reach Villasana de Mena. Dinner and night in Villasana de Mena.
While having breakfast we will return by train to Bilbao and then by coach to San Sebastián: a fascinating city which captures our hearts with an unusual attraction. City tour and end of the journey.
