Robert Rodriguez is now best known for being the person behind Alita Battle Angel together with James Cameron. Now he will release his horror sci-fi movie on a free to watch streaming service. It is a totally different take but that we hope that this will be a sign for him to release Alita Battle Angel on one of the streaming services available too?
Can Red 11 beat the Alita Battle Angel Movie in quality?
A little over a year ago, director Robert Rodriguez released the amazing Alita: Battle Angel released in theaters. At first, the movie had low popularity but once people became aware of it more and more. Alita: Battle Angel grossed a worldwide total of $404.9 million, against a production budget of $170 million.
The movie didn’t win as much hearts in the USA and Canada but in the rest of the world, it was seen as something unexpected beauty. It took about 1 month before the popularity of the movie reached respectable viewing and costs figures.
Alita Battle Angel is a science-fiction spectacle movie that is more than just a movie. It is technical marvel beyond anything that we at Distrita have seen. Michal saw the movie 7 times as the movie was shown for a very long time in the capital of Norway, Oslo. The movie sporting incredible visual effects that demanded to be seen not just once but several times. It is a movie that deserves to be seen on the biggest screen cinema screens and TV’s in the best possible format that you can find.
But for being Roberts B-movie that was released at South by Southwest Film Festival in the USA (15th of March 2019) and at Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival in France (14th of September 2019) last year. That is for sure another story. Red 11 is a movie that goes in an entirely different direction. It can’t keep the entertainment at the same level as Alita Battle Angel movie but for being a B-rated movie that is shot for almost nothing this movie is in fact pretty good. But all in all, this is not in the same league at all.
Red 11 is a science-fiction horror movie from Robert Rodriguez
Robert Rodriguez’s science fiction-horror film Red 11 is shown at film festivals, but now it will be worldwide available through Tubi which is a streaming service such as Netflix and HBO but with advertisements.
The film is based on Robert Rodriguez’s experiences in a medical research facility as the director signed up for pharmaceutical trials to help pay for his first film, El Mariachi. In Red 11, college kids volunteer as lab rats as a way to make some quick cash. The film’s protagonist Rob, played by Roby Attal, is given the titular designation Red 11. Rob is trying to pay down a debt of $7000 (the same amount as the budget of El Mariachi and Red 11 itself) through being a part of the research but the lines get blurred when he thinks the hospital is trying to kill him and is unsure if he’s just experiencing the side effects of the experimental drugs.
