Almost Half of Americans that have been asked have adjusted their Facebook privacy settings. A survey conducted by the Pew Research Center shows that 42 percent of the respondents in the survey have taken longer and longer breaks. Some even several weeks or more than before from Facebook services in the past year.
Survey Reveals declining interest in Facebook usage by people 18 years of age and older
In the survey that is done by Pew Research Center. They talked to Americans who are 18 years of age and older. They revealed that several takes a break from the services that Facebook provides.
Several People takes a break from Facebook in America
42 percent of everyone that’s been asked have had weeks with no social media usage. Another 26 percent say they have deleted the app completely from their smartphone. Here it even appears that 44 percent of users that is aged between 18 and 29, deleted the app, while 20 percent of people aged 50 and 64 have done the same. For those that is 65 and up, the number is at 12 percent.
These numbers is saying something that shows a bit difference in age groups and Facebook usage too. Some of these numbers should be a wakeup call for Facebook.
Teens in America seems to prefer other apps than Facebook
The survey was held between 29th of May and 11th of June 2018. Something which can be reflected in the figures. 54 Percent does say that they have adjusted the privacy settings in their Facebook app. The company did lots of changes in this regard, so something that has become easier on Facebook over the last 12 months. But is this enough to stop the negative trend agains Facebook?
A survey from June this year shows that teens spend less time on Facebook. It also reveals that these tends to like YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat better. But maybe they don’t know that these services have almost the same privacy settings issues? YouTube is owned by Google which is accused by te president of USA to not be fair neither. Both Facebook and Google are humongous in size and they can do whatever they want they think until teens which will be the next generation finds out whats good or bad with these.
