Have you ever wondered how the salty ocean can give such awesome frost clouds near the ocean level? This is because of the air temperature. When the air temperature reaches below -6C, the ocean looks as if its going to boil before ice starts to be seen. First the ice starts to be seen near the coast of land, then if the cold holds more and more. Sometimes its even possible to cross the Norwegian fjords when its been chilly for many days. But dont do it just like that. Ice can be fragile at points and you never know when the oceans temperature suddenly gets higher.
I was very lucky with this images, and I thought of sharing it with you. I also took another picture, that shows the beauty of winter.
What is a fjord?
Fjord is ocean that is as calm as a lake, because it is a valley that is filled with salty water. The fjords got calm waves as lakes but freezing time takes longer because of the salt. The most known fjords can be found in Norway, but also countries like Iceland and New Zealand got them also. They are formed by humongous glaciers long time ago, when they melted.
