Oslo is growing fast, and especially the harbor area next to the opera is changing rapidly!
The new Munch harbor is a beautiful new suburb of Oslo with so many things to do. I love going for walks around the Opera house and seeing all of the new parts that have recently opened up in town. There are so many great restaurants, cafes, and bars that you can go to after work or on the weekends. The people here are also very friendly! You should definitely visit if you haven’t already!
Check out the new “Sukkerbiten” area with drop-in saunas, food trucks, and boat bars. Here you can rent kayaks, boats and other swimming equipment. Lay down in the sun and enjoy the sun! Or if it’s cold why not sit in one of the saunas that keep more than 50 degrees Celsius!
Explore new arts at the Munch museum, right at the Munch Harbor
If you love art and love to explore new places, you should check out the new Munch Museum in Oslo.
We know you want to see the world, but sometimes it can be hard to find time for all your travels. That’s why Oslo built the new Munch Museum in Oslo, which was opened in October 2021! The old museum was one of the most visited museums in Norway with over 1 million visitors per year. With 13 floors and 11 galleries, there are so many exhibits that will make you fall in love with art all over again!
There are so many things to do at this museum including exploring the different exhibitions like “The Modern Eye” which features works by artists such as Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst or checking out our permanent collection featuring works from Edvard Munch himself.

Try a refreshing bath from the saunas
Are you looking for a new sauna experience? Have you ever wanted to jump in the sea?
You can jump straight out in the sea from the float! The sea temperature can reach 20 degrees Celsius in the summer months, but many (crazy) Norwegians jump in the sea even in the coldest winter months when it’s below 5 degrees in the water! Trust me, it’s a very cold experience – but a fresh one – maybe a once in the lifetime experience? I’m sure you will be quickly back to the sauna afterward!
I’ve always been a little bit afraid of jumping into the ocean. It seems so cold and scary, but it was actually really fun! The water is refreshing and invigorating. You can see all of Oslo from the float too!
“MorgenKOK” is the perfect way to start your day. It’s an experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for anything! You can enjoy the sauna, steam bath, cold shower, fresh air and beautiful views of Oslo all in one place.
The boat has everything you need for a relaxing morning – including changing rooms with showers so you can freshen up before heading out into the city. There are also stereos on board with a wireless connection so you can play your favorite music while enjoying this unique experience. This is truly something everyone should try at least once!
If you’re looking for something new to try, then this is definitely worth trying out at least once in your life. Trust me, it will be an experience that you won’t forget anytime soon! Just make sure to wear a swimsuit because there are no changing rooms or bathrooms on site. And don’t worry about being cold either – they have hot saunas right next door where you can warm up afterwards if needed. Saunas are available for drop-in, but you can also pre-book your tickets here. Prices start at approximately 240 NOK (24 USD). They even provide towels if you need them after swimming! So what are you waiting for? Jump in today!
Have a dip at the new city beach
Want to have a bath while you are in the city center of Oslo? The Munch harbor has got a new beach!
If you’re looking for a new place to visit, check out Oslo’s new city beach! It’s perfect for families or people who just want a relaxing day at the beach. The water is shallow so it’s easy to get in and out of, but there are also lifeguards on duty if you have any questions. You can even bring your dog along with you!
This new addition makes Oslo one of the best cities in Europe for summertime fun! And did I mention how close it is from downtown? There are lots of restaurants nearby where you can grab lunch after spending some time swimming or sunbathing. If you need more suggestions on what else there is to do while visiting Norway, let me know – I love sharing my favorite places with other travelers like myself!
If there is one thing I would recommend doing while visiting Oslo it would be swimming at this beach right outside of the Opera house. It’s such a nice place to relax and enjoy yourself without having to worry about anything else going on in your life back home. You can just sit back, swim out into deeper water where it gets more exciting, and then float around on your inflatable raft until you get tired again! It really is an amazing experience that everyone should try at least once in their lives!
