With Birdman, Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu won three Oscars, taking home the maximum statuettes: Best Director and Best Picture, made history by becoming the first Mexican director to win the top two Academy Awards, another Oscar for Birdman was to best Original Screenplay, in his acceptance speech, González Iñárritu asked that Mexicans “can find and build the government we deserve, and that in this country (United State) they can be treated with dignity.”
