There are not many thrillers produced in Norway every year, and even more seldom they are succesful. Pioneer came out last year and became quiet succesful. Now it’s broadcasting around the world.

Director Erik Skjoldbjærg (Insomnia, Prozac Nation) has created a thrilling, claustrophobic conspiracy based on true events, the Pioneer. With its emphasis on the inky blackness of the deep sea and confined spaces, Pioneer is suspenseful, edgy and full of tension.

This conspiracy thriller is set in the early 80’s, the beginning of the Norwegian Oil Boom. The discovery of oil in the North Sea set in motion a race against time and the elements to get this liquid gold to land. This historical event sets the scene for this twisting tale of life, death and conspiracy.

It has already been showing in Toronto, Canada. It was Nominated EuroCinema Hawai’i Award as Best Movie at the Hawaiian Film Festival last year. This movie has it’s premiere during the Scandinavian Film festival in Australia in the middle of July 2014.

Actors: Stephen Lang, Wes Bentley, Aksel Hennie.
