This summer, Distrita visited the border between Poland and Germany on the Uznam island. While 95% of Uznam island is on the German side, the last 5% is Polish, where also the biggest city on Uznam is. Swinoujscie became Polish after World War II.

The border have been opened for some years now. Times have changed. It wasn’t always like this, so its quite emotional for me as I am born in Swinoujscie. With the border, tight guarded during communist times and passport controls in the beginning after Poland became free. I hardly would think that this would be a reality. Yes you can walk on the beach and even cross the border everywhere where its possible. Poland is in EU and it is part of Schengen system.

Visit Swinoujscie!
