An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 at a depth of 22.8 km (14.17 miles) has occurred at 12km WSW of Cicurug, Indonesia, as reported by the National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC) of the USGS on March 10, 2020, 13:24:48 GMT.

Over 5.3 million people affected by this Earthquake

Preliminary analysis indicates that this is a moderate earthquake, but it is very shallow (shallower quakes generally tend to be more damaging than deeper quakes.) Based on the preliminary data, earthquakes of this depth and magnitude are expected to result in moderate to severe shaking within 45.0 km (27.96 miles) from the epicenter.

It is estimated that 5.32 million people, 1.18 million households, and $29 Billion (USD) of infrastructure* are concentrated within this radius. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available by official sources. Epicenter: Latitude: -6.8075, Longitude: 106.6758 *The cost represents the total replacement value of the infrastructure.

Crowded area of Indonesia hit by Earthquake on 10th of March 2020

This area of Indonesia is very crowded so lots of people have been affected. The Earthquake wasn’t too huge but it has done some vital damages to the areas that it hit.

Mostly it is Bogor which is near the epicenter of the earthquake with Jakarta in the north being a 10 million city must have felt a lot yesterday (today in Indonesia). Distrita has many helpers in this region and all of them have reported back that they are safe. Bandung was on the outskirts of the earthquake but they also felt it they say.
