Blade Runner Anime Series in the Making

Blade Runner Anime Adult Swim

Faksimile/Niche Gamer: Blade Runner Anime Adult Swim will be Huge!

Blade Runner Anime will be Made by Adult Swim

This is what we call a Distrita Niche News xtravaganza! This is something which I got on mail. Distrita covers many things which include obscure stuff, Japan, anime, geek culture, and things related to video games like Amiga and Dreamcast.

Adult Swim which is a TV channel in USA has just announced via The Hollywood Reporter that a new anime series based on Ridley Scott’s legendary 1982 classic Blade Runner is in the making.

The series is titled Blade Runner, Black Lotus and will contain 13 episodes. These episodes will be made by Adult Swim in collaboration with Alcon Television Group. The film is based on the equally legendary 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick. It will be one of the most magic TV series we hope. And please do add Vangelis soundtrack to it… ! Please, please !!!

Blade Runner 2049 Sequel in Anime form

The new Blade Runner anime series will be based on the Blade Runner 2049 sequel and will have 2049 screenwriters Michael Green and Mike Johnson set to write. Will they keep the 2049 soundtrack or try to implement Vangelis Blade Runner soundtrack somehow?

Details are almost none, but Distrita team now know that this anime series will be set in the year 2032. It might even reveal the humongous power shortage that the world experienced between the two films, and will include “familiar characters.”

Animation will be produced by Sola Digital Arts (who handled the excellent anime spinoff/prequel Blade Runner Black Out 2022) with both Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama (upcoming Ghost in the Shell reboot) directing all episodes. Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) is also on board as creative producer.

This content will be aired on Adult Swim which is the adult-oriented nighttime programming block of the American children’s cable network Cartoon Network. Why don’t we have this channel in Scandinavia? It broadcasts every night from 21.00 to 06.00. In Norway, only boring stuff is aired during the night time.

Blade Runner in Japanese Anime style will for sure be something Awesome!
