Review: Nvidia Shield Tablet mini-Review

The tablet and it´s Pen

You know Samsung, LG and Sony as the biggest Android supporters out there. They have made lots of tablets, but Nvidia isn´t known for their tablets but for their graphic cards for desktop computers and laptops. At a price of 2499,- NOK (Norwegian currency) and its specifications. Nvidia got something which is powerful, does not feel cheap but its still not expensive at all.

Here is our first in hand review of this 8″inch Tablet that I must say is bringing a lot of goodness to the Android tablet market.

Whats in the box?
In the box which Distrita got, we got 2 different power connectors. One for here in Scandinavia with 2 connectors and the other for the British marked, which got 3 connectors. Also I found a USB charging cable and the tablet itself. Very nice design on Nvidia´s entering Tablet marked! The device is great and it feels solid. The cover is nice and is protecting the device more than others without such “shield”.

To be able to take it out of its home in the box, you just take it out easy. Nvidia have covered the tablet with a plastic that got a helper, so its easier to take it out. Then when every plastic is removed, it is ready to boot up. Our device had a bit of power, so I didn´t need to charge it before usage.

Trine 2 game comes with the Shield Tablet from Nvidia

After a short boot, I noticed the very bright and eye-friendly IPS TFT monitor shining. It got very good angle view also I must say. The Android version that comes with it is KitKat 4.4.2. I went to the about section to find out if there is any updates and yes there was. So I installed it. After that, I took out the pen which comes with this tablet. Wow… It must be one of the best tablet pens I´ve used for a long time. It is precise and when playing Trine 2 (comes with the tablet), it feels so responsive. Nvidia delivers, which is important for a company which is totally new in the tablet marked. Distrita wishes them good luck! This is a great start for sure.
